Our competition season is now over, but we aren't done yet. We've built too good of a machine to let it rot in 19 for years, with its only use for spare parts. There are a bunch of off-season events we can compete in.
1. PARC X, near Scranton:
This is our definite event, we are pretty much registered.
Date: May 12, 2007
We won't be shipping the robot, so I can switch with my dad and take his truck if we need to. The only problem with that is we can only fit maybe 2 or 3 other people in the truck, so we would need another car.
2. Monty Madness, in NJ
Date: May 19, 2007
We are on the waitlist for that right now.
3. IRI - Indiana Robotics Invitational
Dates: July 20th and 21st
This is probably the biggest off-season event. Pretty much exactly like a real FIRST competition. It would be a bit of a hike, but it is possible. Registration didn't open yet, it usually does after Nationals.
4. Ramp Riot
Held by 341, Miss Daisy, usually not until the fall
5. Dual on the Delaware
Held by MOE, not until fall
More will pop up, I'm sure. Off-season events are a great way to promote our team, become better at driving, etc, as well as still have fun with the game...like I said, we spent way too much time and effort into our robot to just let it sit..... |
